I was diagnosed at 3 with Poliomyelitis but these challenges instilled the values of determination, inspiration and courage. I graduated from Ahmadu Bello University with a BS in biochemistry and became a classroom teacher until 2023 when I was called up to the Nigeria’s Sitting Volleyball National Team which afforded me the opportunity to inspire more than just the pupils I was teaching.
I was Assistant Captain to the 2024 Nigeria’s male sitting ParaVolley team, and I currently volunteer with Nigeria Youth Sustainable Development Goals Network and The Meaningful Inclusion Pillar Team. I hope to inspire adolescents and youths with disabilities to pursue their dreams. and demonstrate the importance of inclusive sports which fosters patriotism and national unity.
In addition to these organizations, I am involved in 6 other associations where I have empowered 165 Civil Society Organizations and over 300 youth across 34 states of Nigeria, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to actively participate as agents of change in their communities.
My story demonstrates that sports can go beyond physical limitations in promoting equality and inclusion. Over time it can drive social change, resilience and determination to overcome any adversity.
